3、nalfencewaserectedintheearlypartofthetwentiethcenturytopreventthespreadofrabbits,anotheranimalspeciesthatwasintroducedinAustraliafromabroadandhadaharmfulimpactonitsnativeecosystems.Second,thetoadscouldbecapturedanddestroyedbyvolunteers.Canetoadscaneasilybecaughtinsimpletrapsandcanevenbecapturedbyhan

4、d.Youngtoadsandcanetoadeggsareeveneasiertogatheranddestroy,sincetheyarerestrictedtothewater.IftheAustraliangovernmentweretoorganizeacampaignamongAustraliancitizenstojoinforcestodestroythetoadszthecollectiveeffortmightstopthetoadfromspreading.Third,researchersaredevelopingadisease-causingvirustocontr

5、olthecanetoadpopulations.Thisviruswillbespeciallydesigned:althoughitwillbeabletoinfectanumberofreptileandamphibianspecies,itwillnotharmmostoftheinfectedspecies;itwillspecificallyharmonlythecanetoads.Theviruswillcontrolthepopulationofcanetoadsbypreventingthemfrommaturingandreproducing.ListeningThecan
