FieldoftheInventionThisinventionrelatesgenerallytoabatterymonitorformonitoringthebatteriesofanelectricvehicleand,moreparticularly,toabatterymonitorthatmonitorsthevoltageandtemperatureofthebatteriesofanelectricveh
11、iclewherethebatterymonitorispositionedproximate(othebatteries.2. DiscussionoftheRelatedArtTodaythereisagrowingdemandforelectricvehicleswhichrunonelectricpowerstoredinmultiplebanksofbatteries.Increaseduseofelectricvehicleshasbeenfueledbymanyfactorsincludingconsumerdemand,emissionconcernswithinternalc
12、ombustionenginesandincreasedgovernmentalregulations.Becauseofanumberofobviousandindustrj,relatedreasons,itisnecessarytomonitorthevoltageandtemperatureofthebatteriesusedbytheelectricvehicles.Asiswellunderstd,itisdesirabletocontrolthechargingofthebatteriesofanelectricvehicle.Toachievetheoptimumandmost
13、rapidchargingrate,(hevoltageandtemperatureof(hebatteriesmustbemonitoredtoinsurethatthebatteriesdonotoverheatduringthechargingprocedure.Further,itisnecessarytomonitorbatterycapacityduringoperationofthevehicletodetermineexistingbatterycapabilities.Conventionalmethodsformonitoringbatteryvoltageandtempe
14、raturehaveseveraldisadvantages.Forexample,typicalbatterymonitoringdevicesformonitoringbatterjrvoltageuseisolationamplifierstoisolate(hebatteryvoltageandassociatedcurrentfromthemonitoringdevice.Theseisolationamplifiersgenerallyusetransformers,whichareheavyandcostly,toachievetherequiredisolation.Also,knownmonitoringdevicesrequiremultiplewiresattached(oeachbatterythatareroutedthroughoutthevehiclepossiblyprovidingelectromagneticcompatibility(EMC)problemswiththevariouselectricalmodulesusedinthevehicle.Inaddition,somemonitoringdevicesutilizecommongroundingschemeswhichconnectthevehiclessup
