2、epresentationofthewoman,sfaceisverymuchlikethatofportraitsknowntobebyRembrandt.ButthereareproblemswiththepaintingthatsuggestitcouldnotbeaworkbyRembrandtFirstzthereissomethinginconsistentaboutthewaythewomanintheportraitisdressed.Sheiswearingawhitelinencapofakindthatonlyservantswouldwear-yetthecoatshe

3、iswearinghasaluxuriousfurcollarthatnoservantcouldafford.Rembrandtzwhowasknownforhisattentiontothedetailsofhissubjectsclothing,wouldnothavebeenguiltyofsuchaninconsistency.Second,Rembrandtwasamasterofpaintinglightandshadowzbutinthispaintingthereelementsdonotfittogether.Thefaceappearstobeilluminatedbyl
